Local Pastor Licensing School flyer for 2017

Classes will be held at The Iliff School of Theology, 2323 East Iliff Avenue in Denver, starting Monday, August 14, and finishing Wednesday, August 23. We will also meet on Saturday, August 19.
Sunday, August 20 will be a Sabbath; students should plan to attend a local UM church (other than their own), and to rest.
Monday, August 21 will include evening activities (AfterHours).
Designed for those who are preparing to serve as Licensed Local Pastors, the Local Pastor Licensing School offers an 80-hour, intensive introduction to the role and tasks of United Methodist Clergy. This is one element of the requirements for licensure as a Local Pastor, and is often required for anyone who will serve as lead pastor of a church (contact your District Superintendent for more information). Licensing School is not the same as Course of Study, nor does it replace that requirement.
The curriculum covers essentials in these areas:
  • United Methodist History, Doctrine, and Theology
  • Worship
  • Preaching
  • Leadership and Administration
  • Spiritual Formation
  • Christian Education
  • Congregational Care
  • Mission, Evangelism, and Church Vitality
Certification as a candidate is preferred, but not required, for participation in the Licensing School of the Rockies. Approval of the applicant’s Pastor and District Superintendent are required, as is assignment of a clergy mentor by a District Committee on Ordained Ministry or District Superintendent. Upon registration, applicants will need to provide contact information for their Pastor and District Superintendent.

For More Information:
Contact Rev. Tom Barlow, Dean of the Licensing School, at lplsr.dean@gmail.com. Additional information about required books, assignments, and the class schedule will be provided when registration is complete.
