Disaster Preparedness & Volunteers in Mission

United Methodist churches understand that our mission is to be the transformation the world needs. Our calling leads us to enter into disaster preparedness and response as followers of Christ who earnestly seek to live our faith in ways that can transform communities and the lives of those who are our neighbors.

We can best do this by being true to our collective mission and building capacity in our churches. This is done by attracting, training and managing our volunteers and preparing our families, churches and communities to be better prepared for disaster.

Disaster ministry starts with the local church.  The Mountain Sky Conference Disaster Response and Preparedness committee is a resource to support your church by coordinating the logistics around disaster supplies, developing and organizing training programs as well as working with UMCOR who can provide additional support, funding, or training. 

There are a variety of ways your church can get involved in this ministry:
