Mountain Sky Appointment Announcements Learn more
Did you know that there are seven camps in the Mountain Sky Conference? Circle J in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, Flathead Lake in Northern Montana, Luccock near Livingston, Montana, Pinecliff near Coalville, Utah, Buckhorn near Fort Collins, Colorado, Grand Mesa near Grand Junction, Colorado, and Beaver Creek near South Fork, Colorado.
I have been serving as the Coordinator of Young People's Ministries and Camping Ministry in this amazing conference for about a month. I had the opportunity to travel to four of our seven camps so far. This is the dream job for me; and camping ministry holds a very special place in my heart. I want to see our camps thrive and I am here to support them in any way I can.
The first camp I visited this summer was Circle J Camp in Wyoming. Circle J is nestled in the Big Horn Mountains, and sits next to a beautiful rushing creek. The board at Circle J are working tirelessly to revive the camp and increase its use. So if you are in Wyoming, consider Circle J for your next retreat. I visited Buckhorn in Fort Collins next, and met with Austin Hubbard, the director of Buckhorn. Austin is going into his third season at Buckhorn, and does an amazing job. Buckhorn is lucky to have someone like Austin with such passion for camping ministry. My favorite part about Buckhorn was definitely the Escape Room, but the rock climbing was a close second.
I took a road trip with my husband, Ken, to Montana a couple weeks ago and visited Flathead Lake Camp and Luccock Camp. Flathead Lake is managed by Rev. Steve Hermes, who also has an incredible passion for camping ministry. It was a great privilege to visit Flathead Lake Camp during their senior high camp, and connect with the youth in Montana. Luccock Camp, also in Montana, is a perfect place to escape to. It’s peaceful and quiet (unless there’s a youth camp happening). It sits up against Yellowstone National Park, and is just a short walk from the Pine Creek Falls.
We have some fabulous camps in the Mountain Sky Conference! I look forward to visiting Grand Mesa, Pinecliff, and Beaver Creek at the end of August. See more photos from Amanda's tour on the conference Facebook page
