Regular daily childcare hours will extend from 4:30pm-8:30pm Thursday, 9am-8pm, Friday-Saturday, and 9am-12pm on Sunday. Childcare will be provided by the staff and volunteers at First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs, and surrounding churches.
The cost for childcare will be $30/child/day. This includes snacks and meals (Thurs-Fri-Sat).
If your child is of elementary age 3rd-6th, they will have the opportunity to travel to John Wesley Ranch on Saturday, June 24 for the day.
Youth (grades 7-12th) are invited to attend John Wesley Ranch from Thursday, June 22 through Sunday, June 25th. The theme of the gathering will coincide with the overarching theme of Mountain Sky Annual Conference 2023. This camp is created for the youth whose parents attend the Mountain Sky AC: if your heart be as mine take my hand. John Wesley Ranch will provide pastor’s kids as well as youth whose guardians are involved in the local church to have a place to learn about God and to live out their faith. It is designed to be an experience of God’s grace through creation care and creation justice while learning about “who we can be together” (Mission U Theme for 2023).
Youth are asked to get involved in mission projects in and around the ranch. They are being invited in these four days to be the hands and feet of Christ. This mission opportunity is not meant to be in competition with the youth serving as Youth Delegates to AC. Those attending as Youth Delegates will join the other youth at JWR on Friday or Saturday night for a Youth Celebration.
Youth will be participating in local missions while learning about General Ministries of the UMC Global Missions. Through meal preparation and cooking the youth will learn about Global Missionaries, Church and Community Workers, and Global Mission Fellows as they engage in recipes and table blessings. This food preparation is part of connecting with missionaries serving from everywhere to everywhere. The cookbook will be shared with each participant and was compiled by River Hills UMC in MN.
