Director of Church Operations

Required Qualifications

  • Competent writing skill
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Typing proficiency
  • Hospitable attitude and comfort with people one does not know
  • Ability to hold confidential information
  • Website management
  • Calendar Management
  • Computer competency, especially with programs like:
    • Adobe InDesign, Planning Center, ProPresenter, Calendly, Online Key management systems,  MailChimp, GSuite for Non-Profits (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.), Email, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Zoom among others—and/or the willingness to learn how to use these programs quickly on the job.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with United Methodist Polity and Worship Practices
  • Familiarity with church music copyright law
  • Familiarity with homelessness and comfort with people of all backgrounds
  • A "Self-starting" work ethic
  • Ability to anticipate needs
  • Willingness to work as a part of a three-pronged team with Pastor and Director of Community Engagement
  • Background knowledge of basic facility maintenance concepts

Duties

Outreach Support

  • Answering the phone 
  • Receive guests during hours of operation
  • Respond to needs of folks who arrive at church for help
  • Forward requests for benevolence/financial assistance from church to Pastor
  • Help guests in person or on the phone get answers to their questions
  • Stay up to date on current knowledge of where to find services and help
  • Stay up to date on the activities of the church
  • Coordinate the continued replenishment of our hospitality closet

Administrative Support

  • Anticipate administrative needs of church on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide administrative support to the Pastor and Director of Worship & Community Engagement, 
  • Coordinate vendors and contractors for facility upkeep, repair, and maintenance,
  • Support the communications of the church
    • Craft and send out newsletters and email communications that incorporate contributions from staff/members/pastor
    • Execute design and write copy for general communication
    • Regularly update the website with pastor's weekly blog posts, audio recordings of sermon/worship, and other things as needed
  • Attend staff meetings to obtain information needed to complete these tasks
  • Maintain the church calendar
  • Maintain Key management system of church
  • Maintain records of background checks for volunteers and building tenants.
  • Other duties as needed and within reasonable expectations of time and expertise\

Worship Support

  • Execute the visual media of the church’s worship services on Sundays
  • Prepare slides on ProPresenter for worship under direction of Director of Worship & Outreach
  • Prepare and Print bulletins during the week
  • Oversee the operation of our livestream and visual media
  • Attend staff meetings to obtain information needed to complete these tasks

 

This position will have the capability and expectation to learn new skills and the church will pay for trainings as necessary.
