Job Title: Music Ministry Director 

Part Time - 30 hrs/wk including, among other responsibilities, evening rehearsals during the week, Sunday morning services, other services/events as required.

Salary: 25,000-30,000 based on experience

Starting Date: Negotiable, but as close to June 1, 2022, as possible.

General Description and Purpose: The Music Ministry Director is an integral part of the ministry of this church. The Director’s primary focus is to prepare the choirs and other musical groups at the church for their active participation in the Sunday worship services and other special services/events as they arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Choose appropriate music for each of the musical groups at the church. 
  • Conduct rehearsals for Choir, Acapella, Praise Team, and Handbells (or ensure that all these groups have a strong conductor.)
  • Get to know the music ministry members and the gifts they have to offer.
  • Arrange vocal and instrumental solos, duets, and small ensembles.
  • Coordinate with church accompanist on music for worship.
  • Interface with the pastor and Worship Committee to develop the weekly worship order. 
  • Arrange for community musicians as needed to accompany our groups.
  • Manage budget for the music ministry
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in music. (Equivalent experience and knowledge can be substituted in lieu of this educational requirement.) 
  • Strong conducting and rehearsing skills with vocal and instrumental groups. 
  • Ability to embrace various styles of music from traditional hymns to modern.
  • Able to demonstrate effective leadership skills. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Willingness to be a participating team member with the pastor, other staff members, and members of the congregation. 
  • Enthusiasm, positivity, creativity, and a good sense of humor. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. 
  • Experience in leading Handbell and Praise Band groups is a plus.
