KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Congregational Care
-
Support, equip and oversee the Congregational Care Ministers, including ongoing recruitment and training.

Support, encourage, and equip St. Andrew’s staff and lay leaders as they minister to congregants.

Coordinate effective Pastoral Ministry to congregants, providing direct pastoral care as necessary.

Work with other pastors and St. Andrew staff to coordinate and officiate funerals and memorial services.

Coordinate with other churches and pastors using St. Andrew’s building for funerals and memorials.

Coordinate the church ‘on-call’ schedule for support to congregants.

Develop a network of community resources and professionals to whom people can be connected in crisis.

Support, encourage, equip, and oversee laity on existing Congregational Care teams, including Congregational Care Ministers, staff team, Intercessory Prayer Team, and support groups, while recruiting, equipping and supervising new people to help meet the needs of our congregation.

In consultation with the Executive Director of Operations, manage the Congregational Compassion Fund.

Together with the Pastor of Group Life, provide resources and guidance to ongoing and emerging support groups, e.g., AA, grief groups, and other recovery and support groups.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
|

3 – 5 years demonstrated leadership success in a church or other ministry setting.

2 – 3 years successful volunteer/lay management experience.

Proven pastoral care skills and the ability to teach them to others.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
|

Familiarity with United Methodism; MDiv from an accredited United Methodist seminary preferred.

Passion for the mission, vision and values of St. Andrew UMC.
-
Highly organized and adept at time management.

Visionary, proactive competence at creating and sustaining excellent ministry.
-
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to thrive in a team environment.

PHYSICAL & COVID VACCINE REQUIREMENTS
|
Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
|
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
|
Flexibility to work after normal office hours and weekends as needed.
|
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
|
Master of Divinity or higher education
|
WORKING CONDITIONS
|
Must be able to work in a dynamic office environment.
