Church Treasurer

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures and the willingness to learn other procedures as needed
• Willingness to follow established procedures and to work under supervision
• Computer confidence and experience using accounting software; knowledge of Shepherd's Staff and QuickBooks software a bonus, but not required

 
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keep accurate records of all monies disbursed
• Ensure that bills are paid responsibly and in a timely manner
• Manage cash flow and update appropriate parties (i.e. Finance team, pastor, and church council) by providing monthly and annual reports, either spoken or in print
• Work closely with staff regarding upcoming financial needs
• Ensure that proper financial records are kept for the paid staff of the church and the preschool
• Reconcile monthly bank statements and other financial accounts
• Remit monthly financial statement and payments to the Mountain Sky Conference
• Prepare monthly payroll for church and preschool employees
• Submit church and preschool payments to IRS and State of Colorado
• Prepare W-2 and 1099 forms for all employees and contract labor
• Communicate monthly with the preschool director about the finances of the preschool
• Submit accurate financial records for an annual audit to the Finance Committee
• Attend finance committee meetings
• Attend quarterly staff meetings and provide monthly reports
• Abide by all policies and procedures as set forth in the Berthoud United Methodist Church Personnel Manual
• Maintain flexible office hours

HOURS
This is a year-round position, generally requiring 5 to 8 hours per week.
 
SUPERVISION
Training will be provided.  Financial supervision and direction will be provided by the finance committee, and employee support and supervision will be provided by the pastor and a member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
