Church and Community Coordinator

Position: Regular part time employee

Core Hours: Fifty (50) hours per month, scheduled weekly in consideration of position demands and employee availability

Reports to: Pastor Wendy Ochs

Job Summary: The Church and Community Coordinator (CCC) works to more deeply connect the Church with its Community. Expected service populations include those individuals and families without a church home, children, youth and the elderly, particularly isolated senior citizens and other vulnerable populations. This person should love Jesus and be able to engage meaningfully with diverse populations. This position requires the ability to accept Pastoral direction, work independently and also participate in team efforts with others. Be a committed follower of Jesus and support the mission, vision and values of CUMC

Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills

Able to set goals, organize projects and complete tasks with minimal supervision

Demonstrate reliability in attending required events and meeting deadlines

Solve problems and develop strategies to overcome challenges

Generate clear, concise written materials, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Experience in church and/or community outreach is preferred

Post-secondary education in ministry or a related field is preferred

Must successfully complete Safe Gatherings training and related background checks


Develop, with Pastoral guidance, ongoing outreach projects to more fully engage CUMC with its Community, particularly individuals and families without a church home, children, youth, the elderly and other vulnerable populations.

Design and implement seasonal and one-time outreach projects and activities, including vacation Bible school, youth engagement activities, visiting isolated seniors and coordinating with local school projects and activities.


Support new and existing outreach activities as they grow, such as developing monthly activities to promote engagement with youth, seniors and for Sunday school leaders.

Coordinate with Community human service organizations and other local Churches on shared projects and to assure non-duplication of services.

Function effectively in team environments in the roles of both leader and team contributor.

Engage in regular meetings with Pastor Ochs to discuss ongoing position requirements, report progress, identify challenges and receive guidance on performance expectations and opportunities for training and professional growth.

Connect with the Church by attending worship at least once a month, providing updates of outreach activities at monthly Church Council meetings and participating, as directed, in occasional church activities.

The CCC position is intended to be responsive to the evolving needs of the CUMC Community, and additional or other duties may be assigned to the position.
