Camp Nurses - Buckhorn United Methodist Camp, Bellvue, Colorado

Buckhorn Camp Nurse Job Description:

Reports to: Camp Director

Term of employment: Nurses are needed for these three sessions of our youth camps. We welcome you to apply for one or all sessions!
July 8-13, 15-20, July 3-7, July 29-August 4, 2018

Compensation: lodging, delicious meals, amazing views, smiles, thank you's, and a $550 honorarium. 

Principal Duties:
• First-Aid
• Administer medications
• Treat minor illness according to the approved standing orders
• File incident reports with Buckhorn Camp Director
• Provide nursing presence at camp registration
• Receive and review health and medications forms from parents, answer questions
• Prepare and maintain medical log book and all other records and forms required by the State Health Dept.
• Check inventory of medical supplies weekly, reporting anything that needs replacement

Minimum Qualifications:
• Current RN/LPN Licensure
• Current CPR Certification
• Experience working with children, youth, and young adults
• Working knowledge of health and safety laws and practice
• Working knowledge of current American Camp Association Standards
• Knowledge of how to operate an AED, epi-pen, nebulizer, etc.
• Current Driver’s License
• Belief in God; commitment to Christian growth and basic faith of The United Methodist Church
• Good character, integrity and adaptability

Specific Job Duties:
• Treat minor illness and injury
• Assess, triage and initiate treatment in emergency situations
• Administer medications according to state law following camp standing orders and/or individual physician orders
• Meet or exceed nursing practice standards
• Available 24 hours, 5 days during camp week (will carry a walkie/talkie radio)
• Provide physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support to staff, campers, and volunteers
• Maintain hygienic environment in the Health Center
• Assist with the maintenance of camp environment in accordance with state health regulations
• Note any areas of safety and health concern, offer suggestions for change
• Contribute to a positive, helpful community
