Director of Youth Ministry - St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Highlands Ranch, Colorado

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is a vibrant, multi-generational church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. St. Luke’s dynamic ministry to youth includes weekday and weekend events, mission trips within the U.S. and in Guatemala, special events and participation in the life of the church. The Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for developing a program which creates a foundation for spiritual growth and discipleship.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Youth Program of spiritual growth and discipleship making
• Plan weekly St. Luke’s Youth (SLY) activities including weekdays and weekends
• Plan and lead three mission trips: Youth and Young Adult trip to Guatemala, Sr. High trip and Middle School trip
• Plan and lead the yearly Confirmation program for 8^th grade youth
• Plan and lead weekend retreats
• Provide appropriate pastoral care to youth and their families, and serve on the church’s Congregational Care Team with Clergy and Children’s Ministry staff
• Work collaboratively with the Children’s Ministry and Music & Arts staff to assure collaborative ministry programming for youth
• Coordinate fundraising events for Youth Ministry
• Recruit and train adult volunteers
• Work collaboratively with Youth Adult Ministry staff
• Network with United Methodist Youth leaders in the Mountain Sky Conference
• Report directly to the Lead Minister of Community Life

• College degree (preferably in Youth Ministry or related degree)
• 5 years of experience in Youth Ministry
• A sense of calling to Youth Ministry
• Demonstrated ability to develop a multi-faceted program for youth – including weekly activities, mission work, spiritual formation, and discipleship
• An ability to work with and relate to teens and young adults
• An ability to work with adult volunteers and parents of youth
• Congregational care skills appropriate for youth ministry
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
