Broomfield United Methodist Church in Broomfield, Colorado is seeking a Finance Assistant to maintain the church financial records, prepare financial reports, employee payroll and oversee payables. The Finance Assistant works with the Director of Business Administration to establish and maintain system of internal control to safeguard the church’s financial resources and ensure accuracy, efficiency and reliability.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, year-to- date and/or year-end reports for the Finance Committee, ministry departments, pastors, banking institutions, Church Mutual insurance, State of Colorado, and Mountain Sky Conference.
Prepare analytical analysis for specific ministries, payroll, expenses and income performance
Oversee Accounts Payable; receive bills, invoices and reimbursements, process payments according to due dates
Maintain employee payroll and benefit records in ADP, Wespath, UNUM and AFLAC
Process bi-monthly payroll; create reports from ADP for supervisors to review and approve; ensure hourly and salary rates are accurate
Prepare IRS forms including buy not limited to W2, W9, 1099-Misc, and 1096
Assist with management of church cashflow to ensure payables and payroll are on schedule
Assist with annual budget process
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Quarterly/monthly forecasting upon request from Finance Committee
Manage designated accounts supporting ministries in church and greater community
Serve as back-up for the Director of Business Administration as needed
Assist with front desk coverage as needed
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or Associate’s degree in accounting plus experience to equal bachelor’s degree.
Must pass background check and be bondable.
Three years or more experience demonstrated in the field of finance or accounting.
No history of felony convictions or financial crimes of any kind
This position must be proficient in the following areas:
MS Office Suites, MS Excel, MS Outlook
Knowledge of Servant Keeper software a plus
