Part-time Financial Services Coordinator - Metro Caring, Denver, Colorado

Metro Caring, Denver’s largest hunger-relief and prevention organization directly serving people, is hiring an individual to coordinate financial services for this growing not-for-profit corporation. This professional candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, database and computer skills and be capable of practicing GAAP standards for judging and comparing data and financial reports. The position will average 20 hours weekly and up to 30 hours during the auditing season (May) and potentially at other busiest times of the year.


The Metro Caring Financial Services Coordinator will offer general financial management for both Metro Caring and Hunger Relief Center at Metro Caring. Duties include the following:
  • Management of QuickBooks, processing all financial contributions; preparation of weekly deposits, reconciliation of credit cards and bank statements; review of invoices and preparation of checks (approx. 50 monthly transactions), preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports; assisting auditor with year-end reports/documents
  • Compile monthly financial statements for Metro Caring and Hunger Relief Center at Metro Caring Reconciliation of QuickBooks and donor database (Raiser’s Edge) each month 
  • Serve as professional counsel to Metro Caring’s Finance Committee, meeting monthly at Metro Caring; pull reports, showing data for comparison through projected QB presentation
  • Serve as professional counsel to Hunger Relief Center at Metro Caring Board of Directors, presenting financials to quarterly meeting
  • Assist in annual auditing process and in preparation for tax returns
  • Prepare financial statements and comparative donor giving reports (Raiser’s Edge) for Metro Caring staff and Fund Development Committee, as needed
  • Offer assistance for special projects, as needed

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree; accounting or finance degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to practice GAAP standards for judging and comparing data and preparing reports 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, database/computer skills 
  • Meticulous with details and timelines
  • Proven expertise with QuickBooks and MS Office; Raiser’s Edge experience for comparative reports and queries
