Denver small businesses and nonprofits (including churches) can still register for a free personal protective equipment (PPE) kit, courtesy of the City & County of Denver.
Leveraging federal Coronavirus Relief Funds, qualifying businesses will receive a boxed kit of PPE including one 64oz. hand sanitizer, 40 1oz. hand sanitizers, one gallon of surface disinfectant, 100 surgical masks, one non-contact thermometer, and 10 face shields, valued at over $300, while supplies last.
To qualify for the kit, businesses/nonprofits must be located in the City & County of Denver, have 25 or fewer employees, and have been operating prior to March 1, 2020. The registration form and details can be found at bit.ly/DenverFreePPE.
“We are grateful to be able to provide this support to our small businesses and nonprofits in Denver to help them with keeping their employees, customers, and volunteers safe, said Eric Hiraga, Executive Director of Denver Economic Development & Opportunity, “and beyond the kits, we are also providing educational materials to promote the importance and proper use of the PPE.”
DEDO has engaged with a wide range of grassroots organizations to help get the word out about this opportunity with promotional materials in multiple languages. The goal is to provide the free kits to the smallest and most vulnerable businesses and nonprofits in Denver.
This program was developed in partnership with the city’s Economic Relief and Recovery Council (ERRC). In July, City Council approved a contract for $1,490,000 with OraLabs, Inc. to manage the procurement and distribution of the PPE.
“Attaining PPE was one of the top concerns we heard in surveys and town hall meetings with the small business community.” said Denise Burgess, president and CEO of Burgess Services and ERRC co-chair. "In true partnership, we are so happy to see the city take action on this recommendation and provide these PPE kits to support our city’s small businesses and nonprofits.”
