Music Director - First UMC, Berthoud, Colorado

First United Methodist Church of Berthoud is a vibrant, multi-generational congregation with average attendance of 100. Worship style is a mix of hymns and praise music

Qualifications:

• Background and knowledge of vocal and instrumental music and the elements of worship
• Ability to play piano/ keyboard required; other instruments are a plus
• Ability to read open score
• Ability to accompany a diverse range of musical styles
• Strong personal faith in God and Christ
• Commitment to a team ministry, working with the Pastor, Choir Director, Choir members and members of the congregation

Supervision:

• Primary support and direction provided by the Pastor
• Performance evaluation conducted by Staff Parish Relations Committee

Duties:

• Provide musical accompaniment for weekly service, special services, choir performances and weekly choir practice.
• Select music for use in the weekly service, keeping in mind themes and church calendar
• Work with the Pastor, secretary and others to assemble the order of service
• Prepare and practice musical selections as required for worship
• Conduct weekly rehearsal of the Adult choir and direct the choir on Sunday mornings and for special services during choir season, roughly mid-August through May
• Assist as needed in coordinating special music when choir in not in session.
• Maintain church/choir music and purchase as needed, working within the budgetary constraints of the church; follow church’s financial procedures when making purchases
• Attend staff and/or worship committee meetings as set by the Pastor

Salary and Hours:

This is a salaried position.  Accompany at Sunday services at 10:00am and special services throughout the year.  Attend choir practice Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. mid-August through May.  The duties are estimated at 10 hours/week when choir is in session and 7 hours/week when not.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and education, with a range of $10,500 to $12,000 annually
