Music Director - First UMC, Casper, WY

First United Methodist Church Casper (FUMC), located in the heart of downtown Casper, Wyoming, is seeking a talented, energetic, creative individual(s) to direct our music program.   FUMC values a strong tradition of music excellence anchored by a beautiful pipe organ, one of the finest in the area. The Music Director(s) will possess a broad knowledge of sacred worship music from classical to contemporary and be able to conduct volunteer choirs, including adult, children and/or youth, play organ and piano as appropriate for weekly Sunday morning and special worship services.

Position:
First United Methodist Church Casper (FUMC) is seeking a talented, energetic, creative individual(s) to direct our music program.   FUMC is located in the heart of Casper where 250 people worship each Sunday. A vibrant community, Casper, is one of Wyoming’s two largest cities with a population of approximately 60,000. FUMC values a strong tradition of music excellence anchored by a beautiful pipe organ, one of the finest in the area.
The Music Director(s) will possess a broad knowledge of sacred worship music from classical to contemporary and be able to conduct volunteer choirs, including adult, children and/or youth and play organ and/ or piano as appropriate for weekly Sunday morning and special worship services. 
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• B.S in Music or equivalent training and experience 
• Skillful playing of pipe organ and/or piano as appropriate for weekly Sunday morning and special worship services. Provide and perform music for additional services, including 3-5 Christmas and Easter services.
• Secure instrumentalists for special services and/or substitute musicians as necessary.
• Awe will ability to select music that enhances worship as well as to incorporate different musical genres
• Experience in choral conducting, with ability to direct an adult choir, children and/or youth choirs.
• Ability to teach people with varying degrees of musical knowledge.
• Maintain keyboard instruments.
• Availability to plan for weddings and funerals. Additional compensation is provided for these.
• Ability to administer program development and deployment.
• Engage in a spirit of collaboration with the senior and associate pastors and other staff members.

 
Programs:
Our church presently features a “blended” 8:30 am service and a traditional liturgical service at 11:00 am. We also have a Third Service at 5:00 pm on Sunday evening featuring a contemporary band, which presently has its own coordinator.
Our current music ministry includes volunteer choirs at the 8:30 and 11:00 services.  We also have a bell choir, with its own director. 

Compensation commensurate with qualifications.
