Church Pianist/Accompanist Needed at Washington Park UMC in Denver, Colorado
The church pianist/accompanist would be responsible for accompanying one choir rehearsal and one service every Sunday morning. Pay per service is $100. They will also accompany bi-weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday nights from late August through May. There are a few extra performances throughout the year -- at Christmas and Lent/Easter. There are three services on Christmas Eve and it is important the candidate can commit to those services. The candidate will report directly to the Music Director as well as the pastoral team.
The ideal candidate will have a wonderful skill-set in piano performance and choral accompaniment. Excellent sight reading skills are a must, as are familiarity with common church music styles, including gospel and swing time music. They will perform prelude and postlude music at most every service, as well as Offertory/Special Music moments approximately once a month.
The church is a very welcoming, open, and loving church, and the choir exemplifies these traits. The choir is very committed to doing their very best in every performance, and is also committed to each other and having a lot of FUN at every opportunity.
