Pianist and Church Accompanist - Longs Peak UMC, Longmont, Colorado

Job Description

Longs Peak United Methodist Church is a vibrant, Bible based church with a tradition of excellent music programs.  The music ministry involves over 60 people, ranging in age from 7-70, who participate in adult choir, Acappella choir, Praise Team, adult handbell choir, flute choir, children’s choir, and solo and ensemble groups.  The pianist is an integral part of the music ministry at this church.
 

Qualifications:

• Music degree with strong piano skills
• Experience playing for traditional and contemporary church services
• Experience accompanying choirs during performances and rehearsals (part reading)
• Experience and skills needed for playing contemporary Praise Music (reading lead sheets, improvisation skills, playing in different keys, etc.)
• Excellent sight reading skills
• Familiarity with and appreciation for different styles of music
• Understanding of worship orders and church year
• Ability to work with different ages and levels of musicians

 

Duties:

• Play for two Sunday morning services – Contemporary and Traditional.  Music includes prelude, hymns, communion, special music and offertory as needed, postlude, and Praise Music.
• Play for Tuesday evening rehearsals of choirs and Praise Team
• Play for extra rehearsals as needed
• Accompany choirs as needed
• Accompany solo and ensembles as needed
• Play for additional services as needed throughout the year (Lent, Holy Week, Advent, Christmas, etc.)
• Play for weddings, funerals, and other services throughout the year as needed and if available (extra compensation)
• Perform a wide variety of music and styles
• Support the music director as needed

 
Salary:  $12,000/year
