Small Group and Care Connection Coordinator Position Description: Revised January 2018 Reports to: Eric Smith
Hours: This position is a part-time position, based on 20 hours/week.
Purpose: Facilitate Care Ministries and Creation of Congregational Small Groups
Position Requirements:
To evaluate, coordinate, facilitate, and report on activities of the Visiting Team and Care Team
An outgoing, caring personality and a desire to be involved in providing care, visitation services, and small group opportunities for the church and its membership.
Strong organizational skills to allow for tracking and reporting of members’ needs and responsive care activities.
Must have reliable transportation for visitation.
A familiarity with the progressive social and theological identity of AUMC is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Visiting Team: Purpose of the Visiting Team is to make home visits to members and friends of the church who are homebound, including delivering flowers from our Sunday worship services
Primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a consistent visiting schedule with identified AUMC members
Establish a system for documenting visits
Attend monthly Visiting Team meetings, update report for next meeting
Care Team: Purpose of the Care Team is to make phone calls to members and friends of the church who are ill, injured, grieving, depressed, or going through tough times
Primary responsibility is to establish and maintain consistent weekly phone calling schedule with identified AUMC members
Establish a system for documenting visits
Attend weekly Care Team meetings, update report for next meeting
Small Group Ministry: Purpose of small group ministry is to provide opportunities for the congregation to engage and interact with each other in meaningful ways
Primary responsibility to create and implement an ongoing small group ministry.
Identify and train small group leaders
Identify small group resources, long term and short term.
Develop a method to integrate new members into the life of the church.
Administrative Support:
Attend weekly AUMC Staff Meetings
Other duties as assigned
