Arvada United Methodist Church Youth invite you to celebrate the beginning of Advent by joining them for an evening with Christmas movies and basketball (with a former Denver Nuggets player!) on Nov. 30. This event is aimed at fighting homelessness, and proceeds from the evening will go to Family Promise. Youth from across the Mountain Sky Conference are invited to spend the night at the church.
To spend the night at the church, there is a fee of $10.
Those who raise $25 in pledges will get a t-shirt!
Family Promise of Greater Denver has served 73 families, including 137 children, experiencing homelessness. The organization helps families cope with housing crises and learn life skills to enable a return to independent living and self-sufficiency. Participating churches provide shelter, meals, transportation and other services to make this happen. This fall, there were 99 families on the waiting list to receive services.
The evening will start with the option of watching Christmas movies or playing basketball. Former Denver Nugget center, Ervin Johnson, will join the basketball-players. There will be breakfast in the morning, Christmas decorating around the church. Youth are encouraged to collect pledges for either basketball goals or personal goals. More information is available on the church's website
