Envisioning Hope:  A weekly spiritual environmentalism speaker series focusing on creation care
January 2019 at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Boulder, Colorado

Jan. 6:  Rev. Peter Sawtell is an ordained UCC minister and founder of Eco-Justice Ministries. In early October, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a major report on climate change and ways to act. Rev. Sawtell will share information and reflections on the IPCC report, and facilitate a conversation about urgency, challenges and hope.

Jan. 13: Becky O'Brien is the director of HAZON, a national Jewish environmental non-profit that works to create healthier and more sustainable communities. Reducing food waste is the third solution listed in the IPCC report for reversing global warming. Becky will share with us her work which focuses on reducing food waste. These ideas and solutions are immediate steps we can each do personally and collectively, as a faith community.

Jan. 20: Mary Beth Downing is the chair of the Green Earth Team at Mountain View UMC and is a UMC Earthkeeper. Mary Beth will share where the UMC and the UMW stands on environmental justice/Creation Care issues. She will pilot her traveling program from Drawdown solutions, and welcomes participation from all.

Jan. 27: Sustainable Food and Agricultural Practices: Come learn about sustainable food production, which is a major way to lower our carbon footprint. There will be a DVD presentation and Q&A from local experts who work in the field. Healing our planet through gardening, farming and soil stewardship is a major factor in restoring health and balance.
