Are you wondering how Colorado will fund our public schools and fix our roads, now that COVID-19 has changed things so dramatically? Please call in and listen to Lisa Weil, Executive Director of Great Education Colorado, on Sunday, May 17 at 11:15 a.m. Please contact Deb@arvadaumc.org if you would like a Zoom invite.
Lisa has spoken to our congregation before about school funding, and she has new news to share. There is an effort this year to update the tax policy in our state so that taxation is fairer to all Coloradans. Revenue raised by the initiative can prevent deep cuts to education, public health, transportation and other services in the short term and provide funds for increased teacher pay and accommodate the impact of growth in the long-term. We hope to get this on the November ballot. Learn more at Fair Tax Colorado (https://fairtaxcolorado.org/)
The AUMC Social Justice Team takes our direction from the United Methodist Social Principles. We are organizing non-partisan educational presentations from now until fall that will help us all think about how we vote in November. We won't tell you how to vote, but instead will present factual information to guide you as you make important and independent decisions. All are welcome to attend - you don't have to be part of our church.
