Join fellow members of the Mountain Sky Area of The United Methodist Church for a two-week long cross-cultural immersion in Cuernavaca, Mexico from Aug. 28-Sept. 8, 2017. The goal of this trip is for participants to gain a better knowledge of the Spanish language, gain a clearer understanding of the complex cultural issues impacting the lives of Mexicans, and be challenged to experience the world from the perspective of marginalized Latino communities.
Throughout the two weeks, participants will experience all of the following:
The immersion is being hosted through Centro Tlahuica de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural (CETLALIC), a Spanish language immersion program accredited by the Ministry of Public Education in the state of Morelos, Mexico. They are a small community of teachers, students, and activists, and their goal is to promote dialogue between Mexicans and people of other cultures. Flights need to be reserved in and out of Mexico City, Mexico, with arrivals on August 28 and departures on September 8. Participants must arrive at the Mexico City airport between 1 and 3 p.m. Everyone will leave the airport to Cuernavaca at 6 p.m. If you wish to travel together with a group, contact Youngsook Kang.
