Mountain Sky Appointment Announcements

Mountain Sky Conference is a large body, expanding over a vast geographic area. There are gifts and blessings that come with that fact. And there are challenges for some of us that come along with it. Specifically, for some of us, there are safety concerns when we are asked to travel to particular parts of our conference for events like Annual Conference and Clergy Orders. While we are committed to the transformation of the world so much so that this might one day become a non-issue, we recognize that transformation like that takes time and long-term commitment. Alongside the commitment we have to that transformation, we also want to acknowledge that in the meantime, there is still harm that occurs to some of our siblings when they travel to places that feel less safe because of some part of their identity- the color of their skin or the person they love. Given that, we want to begin conversation on what we can do here and now to support one another in the face of this. If you are someone who identifies as a person of color, LGBTQIA+, disabled, or another marginalized identity and intersection(s) of these identities and are willing to give feedback to help aid the team that is forming to help brainstorm supportive structures and actions we can take, it would be much appreciated.
Your feedback can be shared by filling this form.
If you have any questions and/or would like to participate in an action taking team, please contact Rev. Genevieve Rohret-Navin at genevieve@phumc.org.
