Park Hill United Methodist Church Honors Transgender Day of Visibility with the Patrice Santiago Award

March 23, 2023

In honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31st, Park Hill United Methodist Church has created the Patrice Santiago Award to honor transgender community members in the Metro Denver area. The award is named for a courageous transgender woman who with humor, music, and faith helped hundreds of folks from all walks of life in her mere 26 years in this world. Patrice worked steadfastly to bring awareness, equality, and compassion to transgender people through her love of God.

Park Hill UMC strives to commemorate and continue Patrice’s work by giving the Patrice Santiago award annually to one Metro Denver youth between the ages of 18 and 29 years who is transgender and has demonstrated exceptional community service. The award comes with artwork and a small stipend to celebrate their gifts to community.

This year, Park Hill UMC is delighted to give this inaugural award to Scarlet Holiday for her dedication and assistance to elders at The Center on Colfax. She has helped the senior community and by extension the larger Metro Denver community in innumerable ways. Congratulations, and thank you, Scarlet for your service!
