The Board of Directors of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) approved a planned move by the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) from its New York headquarters to a primary location in Atlanta, Georgia. The board of directors for Global Ministries approved this move to further its reach throughout a worldwide United Methodist connection on October 27. As outlined in the Book of Discipline, the board of GCFA and the membership of the Connectional Table (CT) must approve the relocation. The CT approved the move at its annual meeting November 7.

The GCFA board approved the resolution during a called meeting on Friday, November 14.

“This action by the board of Global Ministries is more evidence that the connection of The United Methodist Church works best when we are working together to provide ministry. The careful consideration of this move took into consideration Global Ministries’ mission to the Church, the people it serves and the staff who work diligently to provide this ministry. GCFA supports this initiative and approved the resolution for the move,” said Bishop Michael Coyner, president of GCFA.
