Cherie Cobb—a current seminarian serving the people of Dolores and Dove Creek, Colorado—is the 2018 recipient of the $3,000 Last Chance Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship offered by Howard United Methodist Church in Last Chance, Colorado, is to assist a United Methodist pastor serving a rural church in eliminating seminary debt. Five pastors applied for the scholarship; their debt added up to $263,000.

The HUMC scholarship committee commends Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, the First United Methodist Church of Dove Creek, and the First United Methodist Church of Durango for their commitment and contributions toward Pastor Cobb’s goal of completing seminary debt free. The First United Methodist Church of Durango is Cherie’s sending church.

Realizing the great need to assist United Methodist Pastors in experiencing freedom in Christ to serve and lead, Howard UMC plans to offer the scholarship again in 2019. To share in this ministry, you are welcome to contribute to the Last Chance Scholarship fund at Howard UMC, 5919 Hwy. 36, Woodrow CO, or initiate another scholarship from your church.
