An Invitation to Finding Peace in an Anxious World

January 21, 2021
The Mountain Sky Mission Team and Mountain Sky United Methodist Women invite
everyone to join us in this year’s first Mission U, Finding Peace in an Anxious World.

Could there be a timelier topic?

This is a spiritual study based on the Serenity Prayer and the Book of Proverbs. Four
study sessions will take place virtually via Zoom on Sunday afternoons from 2-4
through February (Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28), with an opportunity to sign in half an hour
early to visit with old friends and make some new ones.

The study book, Finding Peace in an Anxious World, is written by staff of the Urban
Village Church in Chicago, a community ministry facing deeply tumultuous times. It
presents a framework for how to approach a God who desires true peace for the
hearts of God’s people.

Rev. Su DeBree, a retired United Methodist pastor from Helena, facilitates the
course. She has served congregations throughout the Mountain Sky Conference and
has relied on the Serenity Prayer all her life.

As we write this invitation, half of the voters in the US are cheering and half are
deeply distressed, COVID numbers are dramatically spiking, and evidence of climate
change meets us in our back yards. Anxieties crawl out of our own family situations.
Our hearts feel torn by distress and our blood pressure might even be high. We truly
live in an anxious world and are challenged to keep our focus and trust in Christ’s
love. This study addresses our anxieties in a solid, down to earth manner.

The event is open to all adults. Registration is free. We do recommend purchasing
the book Finding Peace in an Anxious World edited by Erin James-Brown for $10
from the Mission U on-line store.

We hope you will consider joining us in this study. Registration may be completed
on-line at the mtnskyumw.org site.

Yours in Christ and Fellowship,
Mountain Sky Conference Mission Team and United Methodist Women
