Bishop Oliveto speaks at Wheatley Lectures about community and civility through conflict

March 13, 2018
The Wheatley Lectures were held March 8-9 at Rocky Mountain College. The event's theme was  "Creating Community in Fracturing Times: Returning Civility to Civil Dialogue." Mountain Sky Area's own Bishop Karen Oliveto spoke on Friday, joined by the Rev. Dr. Gary Mason, the Rabbi Dr. Uri Barnea, and the Rev. Dr. Matthew Charlton. Bishop Oliveto centered her speech on halting the cycle of violence and cultivating circles of community. "We need a spirituality which increases our capacity for empathy," said Oliveto, "we need to learn the spiritual practices...which open us up to the depth of empathy."
