The Bridge of Love Offering, a tradition of the Rocky Mountain Conference, this year will be a partnership of the Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone conferences. Two rural communities have been selected to receive the offering funds to support projects that benefit people on the margins in the Mountain Sky Area.
  • Polson United Methodist Church in Polson, Montana
  • Arkansas Valley Circuit in southeast Colorado

Polson UMC in Polson, Montana: Back to School Wellness Fair

Based on a community needs assessment, Polson UMC found that some of the key issues identified as important things for a healthy community included access to healthcare, healthy behaviors, mental health services and community involvement.

The Back to School Wellness fair will promote overall wellness, particularly for school-aged children. Dental and vision screening; speakers on a variety of health issues and resources available in community will be available along with entertainment, food, and games.

This is an opportunity for United Methodists of the Mountain Sky Area to not only help fund the event, but also volunteer to help in person, particularly in the areas of assembling personal care bags, and decorating and assembling baby boxes.

Arkansas Valley Circuit: Helping their Neighbors

Over the last five years, churches of the Arkansas Valley Circuit in southeast Colorado have undertaken some large community projects to improve housing and community resources.

Previous projects included building office space and treatment rooms in the Pregnancy Center, painting interior and exterior of homes for people who would not be able to afford it themselves. The congregations have also built a bike/ skate park at a subsidized housing unit, fences and ADA ramps.

This year, with the help of the Bridge of Love Offering, the congregations hope to work on giving an exterior facelift to 5-6 houses throughout the Arkansas Valley Circuit for families who could not otherwise afford it. After working side by side with the homeowners, the volunteers and families will celebrate with a block party.

The offering will be collected the morning of Saturday, June 9, as you enter the meeting room of the Annual Conference.
