Congratulations to Don Gaymon, Recipient of the 2020 Francis Asbury Award

January 21, 2021
Named for early American Methodist Bishop Francis Asbury, this award honors his call to establish a school in the vicinity of every church. “We must,” he said, “ … give the key of knowledge to your children, and those of the poor in the vicinity of your small towns and villages.”

Today, the award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to fostering United Methodist ministries in higher education at the local, district or annual conference level. It is awarded annually to one honoree per annual conference.

Don has a rich history in campus ministry. Before getting involved with the Wesley Foundation in Fort Collins, he worked with the Wesley Foundation at Kansas State University. He has served on, and chaired, the Colorado State University Wesley Foundation (now Kindred) for many years. Don is currently working with the Board of Directors to help develop, Kindred, as an outreach ministry aimed at reaching young adults and students who are not currently involved or comfortable with institutional church. Congratulations Don! Had 2020 been a normal year, we would have recognized Don in person at annual conference. The Asbury Award is a great honor, so if you know Don, make sure you congratulate him!
