We celebrate the ways Epworth UMC is reaching out and fighting food insecurity within the community this summer. Joanna Griffin shares the ways the Epworth congregation is feeding the need this season: “Epworth UMC is preparing and offering one of several free meals a week to our community in need. There is no bigger smile or happier heart than serving one another.”
As an ecumenical program, nearby churches take turns within the rotating schedule. All are welcome as this program is for the homeless or ANYONE who wants a meal. Originally served as a sit-down meal in a neighboring church, since COVID it has become an outside "pick up and carry" sack meal. Approximately 72 meals are prepared and leftovers are delivered to a homeless shelter. Epworth UMC is located in Kalispell, Montana, which is in the Flathead Valley and has a long and celebrated history of local mission. Thank you to Rev. Karen McRae and the Epworth congregation for engaging with your community!

How are you connecting with your community this summer? The Community Engagement team of the Mountain Sky Conference encourages you to pick a project, volunteer in mission, start a new group, work on leadership development – the possibilities are endless. Then, sometime between today and September 1, tell us about it! Selected stories will be celebrated via Mountain Sky communication vehicles such as Ministry Crossroads. As we continue to build our connection, we celebrate the ways that faith communities are engaged. By sharing how you are involved, you inspire others and share knowledge with those communities that have the same challenges and opportunities as you! Check out our link for more details and feel free to share across the Conference
