Recently, I attended a special needs worship service that was unlike any other service I had ever attended. Attendees were of all ages, ethnicity and ability. One thing the audience all had in common, however, was that each person present had been touched in some way by a physical or cognitive challenge.

Churches have long been welcoming to those living with disabilities, but rarely do the disabled have an opportunity to lead a worship experience. That is what made this service so special; it was led by the special needs community.

First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado is pleased to announce a new worship experience for those with disabilities: Wonderfully Made. The services will begin Jan. 6, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in Kingdom City, the children’s ministry area. Please note this is not just for children, but for all ages and abilities.

We are so excited to be launching this new concept of worship in ministry! We are looking for families who have a heart to worship in this open and affirming safe and sacred space. This is a place where love abounds and grace overflows. We are all precious in God’s sight and we are all beloved children of God.

All (regardless of ability or age) are welcome here! Come experience what it means to be Wonderfully Made
