Pastor, Prairie Campus, First UMC, Colorado Springs

When COVID-19 hit, First UMC Prairie Campus n Colorado Springs focused on how to continue our momentum and growth as a new faith community amidst the pandemic.

Starting in May we began our drive-in worship Sunday services that are held weekly in the parking lot of the school we used to rent for worship services. Folks pull into the parking lot, stay in their cars for worship, tune their radios to 104.9 FM, and Pastor Patty preaches from the back of a pickup truck. It's like John Wesley's field preaching but 21st-century style! It's been a great outreach to the neighborhood because it's taken us outside into the midst of them.

On Sunday mornings, folks are walking their dogs, taking a jog, or just driving by and they will stop and listen, being curious. We've had several new folks from the neighborhood join us because of this visibility. We'll hold our drive-in services till October when the weather turns cold. www.fumcprairie.org
