Hurricane Michael: how you can help

October 17, 2018

Please continue to pray for the southeast portion of the United States as the area recovers from Hurricane Michael. According to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Georgia, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle endured the worst damage from Hurricane Michael, which made landfall on Oct. 11.

Many areas are not yet ready for outside volunteers. UMCOR released a statement regarding out-of-conference volunteers on their website, "Affected Conferences are not yet ready to receive out-of-conference volunteers. We remind those wishing to provide assistance to please not self-deploy or donate unsolicited items. Many areas are still engaged in emergency response efforts." Affected conferences have deployed in-conference volunteers to assist with the effort.

What can you do? UMCOR is ready to assist with recovery efforts, but they need our help. Please click the links below to donate to disaster response funds and learn how to build relief kits.
