Invite a Missionary to Your Church

Missionary Kutela Katembo
The Mountain Sky Conference enjoys an ongoing relationship with two missionaries from East Angola: Kutela Katembo and Kenneth Nkando Koome . Kutela Katembo is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, serving as an agriculturist at Quessua Mission in the East Angola Annual Conference.  Quessua Mission, a historical center of Methodism in Angola, was almost totally destroyed in the three decades of civil war that finally ended in 2002. The facility, which includes a church, a school, dormitories, and a farm, is still recovering. Quessua aims to produce enough food to feed its students and community. Kutela Katembo also works with the annual conference in evolving a sustainable agriculture policy that can help to overcome hunger and poverty in the region.
Missionary Kenneth Nkando Koome

Kenneth Koome Nkando is a missionary of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church assigned as the mission financial officer in the East Angola Annual Conference in Africa. As financial officer, he is responsible for the delivery of mission funds to The United Methodist Church and its projects in East Angola, the keeping of accurate records, and providing support services to visiting Volunteer-In-Mission teams, church partners, and conference mission agencies. Angola experienced years of prolonged civil war, and only since 2002 has the church been able to engage in the significant rebuilding of ministries and facilities. The work includes the restoration of the Quéssua Mission Center, a theological education program, and care for orphans and vulnerable children.

Why not invite them for a virtual visit to your congregation?  You do not currently need to be supporting a missionary to invite a missionary to itinerate or visit your church. It’s also a good way for your congregation to explore support for a mission project or missionary. We invite you to call upon a missionary to itinerate at least one Sunday at your church. Missionary itineration is when those who are working in locations across the world connect with their supporters, both individuals and congregations. With the advent of Zoom and other technical means such as video recording, missionaries can be present at your church on a Sunday morning or any time your congregation is willing to host your missionary guest.  All that is needed is to extend an invitation, the details and the technology can be worked out.

Or perhaps your church would like to consider a Covenant Relationship. Through a Covenant Relationship you and your church can provide specific support for one of the 350-plus Global Ministries missionaries serving in more than 60 countries. Individuals and churches can partner with a missionary and provide financial, spiritual and emotional support. Your church can begin a Covenant Relationship by establishing a financial goal of $5 per member of your church per year. Individuals can also covenant with a missionary for $500 per year.
