Senior Pastor, Littleton United Methodist Church, Colorado
Littleton United Methodist Church in Littleton, Colorado serves meals of love and fresh food through Break Bread, the nonprofit the congregation created to build relationships in our community. Littleton UMC members Patricia Graham, LaDonna Gravelle, Bob Youngblood, Joe Chalupa, Arlene and Carl Chenoweth, Mike Dilly, Susan Medley, Sue and Randy Poet, and others volunteer to plant, water, weed, harvest vegetables, and feed cattle – which eventually help feed our neighbors and nourish the community. Cold weather, hot weather, mud, prairie dogs, magpies, rattlesnakes, grasshoppers, and little yellow beetles were no deterrent.
Food is delivered every Friday during harvest from the family farm of Sue and Randy Poet. Chef Joe Ruder had a big smile as the rhubarb, asparagus, corn, beans, cucumbers, beets, cabbage, shallots, squash, peppers, pumpkin, eggplant and beef arrived at the Littleton UMC kitchen. It was only matched by the smile of the neighbors who sat around the table eating the delicious fresh meal!
