Mountain Sky Conference Volunteers in Mission
While escaping the northern deep freeze in February, 14 volunteers ventured south to the Rio Texas Conference to help with Hurricane Harvey restoration. People came from Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado to assist with clean up in homes and offices located in Rockport, Fulton, and Aransas Pass in Texas. Projects included partial demolition and rebuilding of a double-wide trailer; exterior wall preparation and painting of a home; laying down laminate flooring in another home; and wall preparation and painting of Rio Texas Conference offices and hall.
Great satisfaction not only came from rebuilding the homes, but also daily fellowship within our Mountain Sky team, with a Houston-based Baptist team and young AmeriCorps volunteers. Physical improvements to the homes were evident; however, each volunteer’s personal pleasure from assisting others was even more palpable. Many team members will be volunteering again in the future!
