Editor's note: The following is from an email letter sent July 21 from Metro Caring.
For 43 years, Metro Caring has been on the front lines of hunger in our community. Throughout our history, several high-impact civic leaders have steered our organization. Last January, Lynne Butler, who had been at the helm of Metro Caring for seven years, stepped down as Chief Executive Officer. Since then, we have served as interim co-CEOs, while assisting with a thorough, nationwide search for our next long-term CEO.
In total, our search firm received 74 applications. After a comprehensive review process, we found a tremendous and inspiring Denver-based leader.
We are thrilled to introduce you to Metro Caring's new CEO, Teva Sienicki, who will officially begin her tenure on Tuesday, August 15th.
Teva has served as President and CEO of Growing Home for fifteen years. In this role, she has acted on her passion to build equity and close the achievement gap for low-income kids. Under her leadership, Teva has transformed Growing Home, which began as a small shelter program serving 30 families, into a comprehensive anti-poverty organization that serves over 4,600 families annually.
Her leadership style, emphasizing data-driven decision making, coalition building, and team development, will allow her to successfully guide Metro Caring in the next, ambitious phase of our evolution. By bridging gaps between research, practice, and policy development, Teva will scale Metro Caring's high-quality, direct-service strategies while advancing thinking and systems change to build equality of opportunity for all.
"I'm so impressed by Metro Caring's thoughtful Board, passionate staff, and many dedicated volunteers and supporters," says Teva. "I couldn't be more excited to join the Metro Caring team and work side by side with each of you to fight hunger and build sustainable communities."
Teva will launch an extensive listening campaign as her first order of business, in preparation for a rigorous strategic planning process. In the coming months, there will be opportunities for you to share your ideas and feedback about Metro Caring with her.
In the meantime, you can find out more about Teva's passion and leadership by watching her
2016 TEDxMileHighWomen talk.

Doug Hock, President of the Board of Directors
