Rural Chaplains Association convenes in Pueblo, Colorado

August 05, 2019
The Rural Chaplains Association is convening in Pueblo, Colorado this week, Aug. 7 to 10, for its annual event. The 2019 gathering will include visits to SonRise, Ordway and Rocky Ford United Methodist churches in southeastern Colorado. The Rural Chaplains Association (RCA) is a United Methodist partner organization for clergy and laity to connect and engage with people in rural communities.

In this article from January, the Rev. Keith Hudiburgh of Ordway UMC said, "we want participants to come away from this experience with a renewed sense of hope with regard to the many challenges facing rural America today."

About 51 people will be attending the 2019 event, with one attendee coming from Russia. The Rev. Chris Carr, superintendent of the Trinity District, will visit the RCA gathering to bring greetings from the Mountain Sky Conference. Bishop Karen Oliveto also will bring greetings through a video. Photos and a recap of this week's event will be shared in conference news.
