Canceled: Spiritual Pilgrimage to Heart Mountain WWII Japanese American Confinement Site

July 10, 2021
08/28/2021 Update
As recently shared with the Planning Team, "It is truly amazing how many different emotions our hearts can hold at one time...I know that there are feelings of care, love, hope, worry, and sadness; we hold them all." After much prayer and discernment, we have decided to CANCEL the spiritual Pilgrimage to Heart Mountain. With the growing COVID cases, there was a heavy sense of responsibility to do what we can to reduce any potential risk for attendees, hosts, and guests. The Planning Team looks forward to when we can schedule this journey together in the future. We are also discerning the possibility of a virtual gathering. We will make sure to keep you posted.
If you booked a hotel, please call them directly to cancel your reservation. There is still time to do so without accruing a penalty fee. Please do so no later than the 13th of September. The numbers for the hotels are below. The conference will refund your registration fee. Please allow us some time for the funds to process.

Thank you so much for your interest in this journey together. We had friends from throughout the Conference who registered! May we continue this journey for learning and deep listening for transformation. Please reach out to Rev. Bich Thy (Betty) Nguyen at with any questions or concerns. understanding.

08/12/2021 Update

In light of the increasing cases of COVID, the Planning Team is prayerfully discerning how to have this spiritual pilgrimage in a way that reduces risk so that we 'do no harm' to one another as attendees, our hosts and guests, and to the community in which we will be in. We will also be keeping track of CDC and local guidelines for guidance. Thank you for your care and flexibility as we are living in times when we are asked to be nimble with our plans; things may change. As of August 12th, 2021, the Planning Team is asking that regardless of your vaccination status, all who are in attendance wear a mask and keep social distance during our time together. Thank you so very much.

Please contact Rev. Bich Thy (Betty) Nguyen at if you have any questions or concerns.

The Racial Justice Movement and Ministries Task Force (RJMM) of the Mountain Sky Conference and community leaders will host a Spiritual Pilgrimage to the Heart Mountain WWII Japanese American Confinement Site on Saturday, September 18th, 2021. The intent of this trip is to learn both the history and what it means for us today; as community members and as disciples of Jesus Christ, practicing how to be anti-racist and together build beloved community.
We will be meeting at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center at 1 pm MT.
We will be there for about 3 hours.
Our time together will continue at Cody UMC, located at 1405 Beck Ave, Cody, WY 82414, for additional learning, conversation, prayer, communal reflection, and dinner.

Registration Cost is $30.
