One Saturday in May, St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, sent nearly 750 people out to volunteer for 53 different service organizations – assembling meals for the hungry, painting homes and schools, landscaping, spring cleaning and lifting the spirits of the elderly.

Locations included Habitat for Humanity, Urban Peak Youth Shelter, Project Cure, Women’s Bean Project, Denver Urban Ministries, Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, and more. This project is called The Big Serve and the number of participants was doubled from last year.

“It’s a catalytic event that gets everyone on board for community outreach," said Senior Pastor Rev. Mark Feldmeir. “It gets us outside the church and into the world.”
