Thank You For Participating in Miles-o-Love 2021

November 08, 2021

The avenues for exercise were as diverse as the beautiful geography of the Mountain Sky Conference. Participants in Annual Conference 2021’s Miles-o-Love walked, ran, rode, hiked, swam, kickboxed, and enjoyed yoga and barre as they racked up the miles and donations.

Thanks to the generosity of participants and donors this year, Miles-o-Love raised over $8,000 for the East Angola Pastor's Fund and the Creation Justice Task Force of the Mountain Sky Conference.  We are grateful for the early birds who registered right away. We are grateful for the latecomers who registered a few weeks after Miles-o-Love has started. We applaud each and every participant and donor no matter when and how they join us!

A few highlights from the friendly competition spurred by the event include:

  • Team HUMM (Helena United Methodist Ministries, MT), raised $1,955
  • As part of the Dang Wild Wyoming Wilderness Prophets of Love and Light, the congregation of Powell UMC, Wyoming came together to raise $822
  • Team Sparkling Llamas of Smoky Hill UMC in Centennial, CO logged a final tally of 1161.4 miles
  • The Mountain View Green Team, Three Mountain Magic, Miles for MSCJ, Team Sherry F, and Team Dawn S contributed to the 1,961.75 total miles logged

And these donations and miles are going toward two great causes. Half of the funds raised go to the East Angola Pastor’s Fund. We support our siblings in Christ as they rebuild their churches and ministries. We do that by supporting 107 pastors in 3 districts and 2 areas of evangelization in a remote part of the country. This salary is vital to the lives and families of these pastors and this partnership offers hope to the pastors, their families, and their villages.

The other half of the funds raised go to the newly formed Creation Justice Task Force of the Mountain Sky Conference. This task force is charged to build a resource and community in the Mountain Sky Conference to support local churches and move us all forward to greater stewardship of our natural world. Information will be released in 2022 about grants to help churches become more energy efficient.

We are grateful you joined in the mission to live in faith, act with courage, and work for justice. Once again, thank you for partnering with us and playing a part in the life and ministry of the Mountain Sky Conference.
