Simpson United Methodist Church invites you to a Webinar presented via Zoom.
August 3, 2022, 7:00 - 8:30 pm (MDT)
Transformation of Our Suitcases: Multi-Generational Japanese American Experience
In light of current events, Simpson UMC sought a forum to examine the historical and contemporary aspects of Anti-Asian sentiment, aggression, and microaggressions.
In this Zoom event on
Wednesday, August 3, from 7:00–8:30 pm, we will seek to provide individuals of multiple generations an opportunity to find commonality and comparison in the voicing of their lived experiences.
This short, 90-minute event is not meant to be a comprehensive or definitive look at the topics. Rather, we hope it is the beginning of many more conversations after joining in on this dialog with three families, and three generations; with experiences spanning over nine decades and origin-points in Japan, California, Washington, Hawaii, and Colorado. Zoom participants will have a chance to react in the Chat and post questions to the intergenerational panel.
From runaway picture-brides, to FBI seizures, to confrontations in the classroom and the community—hear stories of three families, three generations, spanning nine decades; with origin-points in Japan, California, Washington, Hawaii, and Colorado. You will have a chance to react in the Chat and post questions to the intergenerational panel.
