Vital Conversations: Researching Right-Sizing the Church on May 26, 2021
May 18, 2021
On May 26, 2021 at 11:30 am, join Rev. Jeff Rainwater for a Vital Conversation about right-sizing our churches considering our budgets, staff, and buildings. As we begin to exit the pandemic, we are facing a new reality that will include some amazing gains but also significant losses. How do we make adjustments to address our new normal? We will talk about some best practices for budgeting as well as what we are seeing within our conference. This will be a preliminary conversation that will lead to a more thorough workshop in the Fall. Your questions and insights will help us develop some better tools for budget-planning and charge conference time.
Rev. Jeff Rainwater is the Mountain Sky Conference Superintendent of Congregational and Community Vitality. As a trained Aerospace Engineer, Jeff is a tinkerer who likes to look at systems — any systems — and ask how they can be better. But ministry in the United Methodist Church has been his passion and single profession, leading churches in Arkansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. Most recently, Jeff was the Wyoming District Superintendent and Dean of the Cabinet for the last 5 years. Now he looks forward to helping established faith communities become healthier and supporting the birth of emerging faith communities. While not investing his life in this world to make it better, he enjoys inhabiting the worlds of Star Wars, Harry Potter, J.R.R. Tolkien, and the strange world of Duke Basketball. He currently lives in Denver, CO, with his wife, Laura, Executive Pastor of Park Hill UMC, daughter Emma, one dog, and one cat.
