Green Mountain United Methodist Church in Lakewood, Colorado sent a Volunteers In Mission (VIM) team to Puerto Rico Aug. 4-11. During the trip, the volunteers helped rebuild homes damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Maria.

The team of 10 church members, along with the Rev. Paul Murphy-Geiss, cut, bent, and installed rebar for a concrete roof for a new home for one family. The group also did cement work, painted, and laid cement tiles at two homes.

Before traveling back to Colorado, the team presented UMCOR and The United Methodist Church of Puerto Rico Home Depot gift cards for more than $1,000. These funds will help with future and ongoing repairs.
