Please pray for the family of the Rev. Robert (Bob) Sewell, who passed away Aug. 1 at the age of 81. Bob was an elder in the legacy Rocky Mountain Conference and served from 1970 until his retirement in 2006. The churches he served included Salida UMC in Colorado, Julesburg and Ovid UMCs in Colorado, Grace UMC in Denver, Torrington UMC in Utah, First UMC in Salt Lake City and First UMC in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Bob also served the Northwest Texas Conference.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 in Claude, Texas where Bob and Peggy were married Aug. 30, 1966. More details will be posted soon. Before his passing, Bishop Warner Brown, Jr. and spouse Minnie visited Bob and Peggy on July 31 to pray, sing and offer communion. Peggy said, "As Minnie blessed us with a song, Bob joined her in singing and then raised his voice in joy at being surrounded in great love."
Family and friends gathered Aug. 6 at the Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas for a celebration of life with a time for music and memory sharing. Music and singing has always been an inspirational and fun part of Bob's life. Bob was a member of the Aliante Songsters since arriving in Aliante Sun City in 2017. The Songsters led the celebration of life.
