Intermountain strives to fulfill it’s mission of “healing through healthy relationships” by providing a wide array of services to youth and families across Montana. Intermountain got its start in 1909 when Brother Van declared “we cannot continue to allow the suffering of children to go unchallenged.” The Intermountain-Methodist connection has remained strong since then. Currently, Intermountain specializes in providing comprehensive treatment to youth impacted by emotional disorders and trauma. Their programs are located throughout the state, in private homes, schools, clinics, and group homes. Their website is www.intermountain.org.
The UMC is 1 of 4 supporting denominations to the agency, and represented by Crystal Amundson on the agency’s Board of Directors. Crystal is available as a liaison and can be reached at email@example.com. Intermountain employs a full-time chaplain, Chris Haughee, to meet the spiritual needs of those served by Intermountain. Chris is a fantastic resource for everything from liturgical resources, to pulpit supply, to youth group curriculums. You can learn more about ministry program at http://www.intermountainministry.org.
Each year, Intermountain brings 40 of it’s highest needs youth to Flathead UMC for a summer camp experience. Because the circumstances and symptoms surrounding these children, this is usually their first experience of summer camp. You can help keep this opportunity a financial reality for the agency in one (or more!) of the following ways:
Pay a camper’s way. Registration is $120 per camper, and Intermountain sends over 50 campers & staff each year.
Sponsor snacks! S’mores and songs around the campfire are a favorite, and cost $0.25/each.
Sponsor crafts! The camp staff entertain and challenge campers with various craft projects. A donation of $15 would cover one camper’s crafts.
Build a basket.
Rockin’ Road Trip: Make the road trip an enjoyable one by throwing together a gas gift card, fun CD, snacks, and games. We’re looking for 5 baskets.
Big Splash: The kids love the water! Help them be sun smart by packing a basket with sunscreen, beach towels, gift cards for sunshirts and swim shoes (so staff can buy the correct sizes), and water toys. We’re looking for 5 baskets.
