In addition to leading the Simla and Ellicott United Methodist churches, Pastor Sherry Ferriman has a new church called The Neutral Zone to minister to veterans who are experiencing the physical, mental and spiritual wounds of war. She hopes to offer a safe space for veterans to worship, talk through their trauma and re-imagine their relationship with God.

On June 12, the last day of the 2016 Rocky Mountain Annual Conference Session, a service of Ordination and Commissioning was held with guest speaker Rev. Dr. Hugo Magallanes. Nine people were commissioned, six people were ordained (2 deacons, 4 elders) and 10 local licensed pastors were recognized. There was also a reading of appointments for the next year.

At the opening worship of the 2016 Rocky Mountain Annual Conference Session on June 9, Bishop Elaine Stanovsky washed the feet of Iraqi refugees, Raad and Shimaa Altaee. The Altaee family fled to the U.S. following war and unrest in Iraq and are now attending Christ Church United Methodist in Denver, Colorado.
